Depending on the area you live in, your water may contain limescale, iron, or other minerals that can build up on your bathtub over time.

These are some of the most effective tricks to help you get your bathtub clean in a simple and straightforward way.

1. Traditional detergent or bathroom cleaner

While it may seem obvious, there's a reason that the most common way to clean a bathtub is to use bathroom detergent.

That said, the most important thing is to choose the right one and to avoid using brushes on the porcelain, which can scratch and damage its structure.

4 of the most effective hacks and products to clean your bathtub so it looks brand new

According to Proinco, the best way to avoid any scratching or damage is to use a sponge.

2. Mild soap

Another method is to use mild soap and lukewarm water.

All you need to do is dip a sponge in and rub the sides of the bathtub to remove bacteria and achieve a shiny finish.

3. Baking soda and vinegar

Mixing baking soda and vinegar can be very effective for domestic cleaning.

It can even be used to unclog drains and can help to remove stubborn stains. For your bathtub, start by pouring baking soda over the entire surface and then spray vinegar on top, leave it to stand for a few minutes.

Then rub it off with a sponge and rinse with plenty of water.

If your bathtub has yellowish stains, hydrogen peroxide is the best way to remove them. Apply the product and leave it for about half an hour.

Then rinse with lukewarm water and if there are still any stains, rub with a cloth or sponge.

4. Salt and vinegar

If your bathtub has accumulated limescale, you can easily remove it with a mixture of salt and vinegar.

Apply it directly on the stains, rub with a sponge, and they should disappear quite quickly — but be aware that you'll need to do this regularly to keep the scale at bay.
